Eligible Repairs: Roof, furnace, electrical, plumbing, structural and building code violations
Grants up to $12,000 for low-income seniors, 65 and older or physically disabled persons 55 and older
Applicant must not have received a prior City of Detroit home repair grant
Seniors need not be present to be selected
$3 Million is HUD federal CDBG funds available

FREE GROCERY FOOD BAG
Metropolitan Church of God located at 13400 Schaefer Road & Grand River will be registering on-site August 24-26th, 12noon to 3pm. Bring a picture id (state or drivers license). Pick-up grocery bag of food on Saturday August 29th. For more information phone 313.273.5580.
COMMUNITY CLEAN UP SATURDAY AUGUST 22ND
Keep Cody/Rouge Clean Campaign
Join us Saturday, August 22nd for our monthly clean up project. We are excited to get back out there and get our hands dirty with some litter and trash picking up. We are in need of 10 volunteer for each site. Earn community service hours by volunteering with us.
Here are just a few details:

Where: Joy Rd & Evergreen (the alley behind L. George's Coney Island)
Whitlock & Plainview (the alley behind the corner house)
Warren Avenue & Auburn (the store parking lot)
Bring: Water, gloves, safety glasses, friends (10), and any additional tools you
want to use for cleaning: rakes, shovels, hedgers and loppers

Supply: Trash bags, a few extra gloves, and some litter pickers

Consumer Protection & Financial Fraud Prevention Summit August 25th
City of Detroit , in conjunction with Mission of Peace National Corporation, will host the Consumer Protection and Financial Fraud Prevention Summit August 25 to inform residents about options to maintain home ownership, assistance with delinquent property taxes, and avoiding financial fraud on Tuesday, August 25, from 10:00am to 2pm at the Northwest Activities Center, located at 18100 Meyers Road at Curtis.
The summit, which will also provide information on Elder Law, lowering your energy bill, and HUD FHA products and services, will give participants an opportunity to meet with Representatives from lenders and social service agencies, including HUD, the Wayne County Treasurer, Chase Bank, Fifth Third Bank, the Detroit Police Department (regarding scams), DTE, and United Housing Coalition. The summit will include a free breakfast and lunch. Mission Peace is a HUD-certified counseling non-profit organization
